Canada now has a new Governor General. David Johnston has been chosen by the minority government to replace Jean. Johnston has a very impressive resume which is filled with awards and titles. The 69 year-old has been chosen to appeal to a broad array of Canadians.

David Johnston has a backgroun in law with degrees from Harvard, Cambridge and Queen's University. While Michaelle Jean is known for her advocacy of women's rights and Northern rights, Johnston will likely be known for his role in promoting education.

Canadians will be expecting a lot of activity from the new Governor General.
