Montreal Beats Philly 5 to 1

The Montreal Canadiens redeemed themselves yesterday after playing a fabulous game to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-to-1. The Montreal team kept the pressure on and managed to outshoot and outscore the favourites. The Philadelphia team seemed to be performing a bit lower than their usual standards. Perhaps the Flyers were tired from traveling to Montreal or not as comfortable playing on the Canadiens home turf.

The Flyers are leading this Eastern Conference series over Montreal as of Game 3. The Flyers have won two out of the three games so far. Montreal really needed this victory in terms of not just staying in the running, but for morale of the players. Another devastating loss where they couldn't score a single goal against the Philly team would have been devastating for the Canadiens. Fortunately the Philadelphia team did not remain unbeatable.

By the second period Montreal managed to shut out the Flyers. The Flyers didn't manage to get a single shot in the goal until the third period. Montreal went into the third period leading 3-to-0.

The next game will be a home game for the Canadiens on Saturday.
